In a statement he gave to Qatar News Agency upon arrival, Karty said the Sudanese delegation will brief officials in Qatar on the recent developments in Sudan vis-a-vis the Darfur issue, and will also listen to their views towards them.
He added that the visit came in the context of consultations and moves made by Sudan with brothers and friends, stressing that the state of Qatar plays a big regional role especially within the Arab League. The Sudanese official also hailed decisions of the Arab League council’s meeting, held in Cairo yesterday, describing them as ”rare and clear” in their support to Sudan. The Sudanese moves came in the wake of the International Criminal Court prosecutor”s request for an arrest warrant against Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir for alleged genocide and crimes against humanity committed in Darfur.
