TEHRAN, Jul. 29 (MNA) – Following the persecution of Sheikh Isa Qassim by Bahrain, Bahraini Opposition has declared today, 29 July, as international day of solidarity to bring attention to the current crisis unfolding in Al Khalifa regime.
Bahraini Opposition Abroad in a letter issued Thursday urged all senior religious authorities and institutions, along with organizations and prominent personalities in Islamic communities and countries to urgently take a stand, under the title “Stop the persecution of Shia Citizens in Bahrain and Sheikh Isa Qassim”.
The letter aimed at bringing attention to the current crisis that is unfolding in Bahrain, in which Bahraini indigenous and religious sections of society are being targeted in a way that threatens their existence, identity, beliefs, rituals and religious duties, as stated collectively by Bahraini senior clerics.
The Opposition further declared July 29, 2016 as an international day of solidarity, and urged all to participate in this day through protests, conferences, stands, social media, and all other means of expression.
“Such a persecution carried out by the regime in Bahrain can only be described as a form of extermination of a cultural and religious heritage, and a serious threat to Shias existence as referred to by the UN,” the Opposition said in the letter. “We implore you to organise programmes, condemn the actions of the regime in Bahrain, and take steps to back this solidarity campaign and stop the persecution.”
Bahrain regime declared trial of Ayatollah Qassim on Wednesday 27 July 2016, accusing him for money laundry for collecting “Kums”. The move has been strongly slammed by the country’s clerics as invalid, illegal and unconstitutional.
