Major Nasser Al Nuaimi, Director of the Minister’s Office and head of the committee, said registration would open to all those who didn’t hold identification documents next Sunday.
”The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has already begun preparing registration centres in four emirates – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman – to welcome clients as of next Sunday (Sept.7) for two months,”he explained.
The committee will have representatives from the ministries of interior and presidentail affairs and security organ.
He affirmed that the committee’s priority is to settle the problem of stateless persons as it constitutes one of the pressing challenge to the social security and stability amid increasing number of infiltrators who called themselves stateless.
”Sheikh Saif’s directives highlighted the need for closing this file for good with more accurate and effective methods so as to preserve the right of eligible persons for naturalisation, respect the rule of law, community will and higher national interests,”he affirmed.
He also emphasised that the second opportunity for registration will be final and comprehensive and warned those who missed this chance will be considered violators of the law for entry and residency of foreigners.
”The Ministry of Interior will conduct a blanket crackdown on offenders after the door of registration is closed. A nation-wide awareness campaign will be launched in all mass media outlets after which no one will be excused,”he stressed.
