Bahraini renal and kidney transplant surgeon at the state-run Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) Dr Sadiq Abdullah told Khaleej Times that establishing an organ bank could be an option if more approach the Ministry of Health for obtaining cards stating their consent for donation of organs after their death without the permission of their close relatives.

“We are enhancing awareness to increase the number of cardholders so as to reduce the waiting lists,” he said while highlighting that Bahrain has been carrying successful kidney and lever implants.
