Addressing the Federal National Council’s (FNC) first meeting of its new chapter in the capital, Shaikh Mohammed said: “The economy means growth, progression and a better life for us and the upcoming generation.
“Here, we would like to emphasise confidence in our national economy, and set legislation that protects our economic accomplishments, for laws protect our economy from upheavals of the global markets.”
Shaikh Mohammed said the FNC had a crucial role to play in ensuring that the government heard the demands of the people.
“This chapter starts as we are on the eve of celebrating the 37th year of our national union, which is a great accomplishment in the Arab world.
“We believe that the FNC has the capabilities to document the needs of our people, and transform them into action plans, in addition to documenting the negative and positive aspects by directing questions to government experts, which are all great responsibilities given to your council.
“We will not forget the distinguished roles assumed by the council’s female members, for their participation proved that betting on the role of the Emirati woman was a winning bet, and that our confidence was rightly placed,” he added.
“We call on you to be more actively engaged with the institutions and bodies of the country, and for your committees to descend on the field to touch the needs of citizens and their concerns, and not rely only on formal meetings.
“The most successful plan of action is one that is based on the practical realities on the ground, and not in closed rooms,” Shaikh Mohammed said.
