The meeting discussed a number of topics, including activities of the GCC social development centres, social security, social assistance and child protection as well as setting up of a GCC social information centre.
Addressing the meeting, HE the Minister of Labour Sultan Hassan al-Dhabit al-Dousari underlined the importance of creating more jobs for GCC nationals and providing the appropriate training.
He called for rationalising the import of foreign labour into the GCC markets.
GCC Assistant Secretary General Dr Abdullah al-Hashem said the last GCC summit, which was held in Doha late last year highlighted equality in employment in both public and private sectors.
He praised the role of the private sector in helping the governments of the six GCC states in the labour sector.
The GCC ministers also recommended separation of labour ministers council and the social affairs ministers council.
The meeting also recommended setting up of the basic system for both councils to be presented at the upcoming round of meeting for endorsement.
Earlier HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani received at his Emiri Diwan office yesterday the GCC labour and social affairs ministers who are in Doha for their 25th meeting.
The Emir wished the ministers success in their meeting.
