Sources said the committee, which consists of representatives from the ministries of Interior, Justice, Social Affairs, Information and Awqaf, met Tuesday to discuss a number of human rights issues.
Assistant Undersecretary for Police Training Affairs Major General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf affirmed the committee reviewed the steps taken by the concerned government departments to address the issues highlighted in the reports of various international organizations.
He said the committee also tackled the sponsorship system, controlling the number of absconding and marginal workers, and the construction of shelters for maltreated expatriate workers in coordination with the foreign embassies in Kuwait.
He added the committee will hold a series of meetings in the coming days to come up with effective solutions to clear the name of Kuwait in the international community.
