Arab League briefs 80 Western countries on Kuwait summit decisions

The briefing was made during a meeting by the Head Office of the Arab League Secretary General Ambassador Hesham Yousef with the ambassadors and representatives of foreign missions in Egypt.

Yousef said meanwhile that the League is currently forming an Arab legal team to discuss steps to be taken in order to document Israeli war crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza Strip, stressing the need to document these crimes and to prepare a legal case in this regard.

The Ambassador also stressed importance on "the need to ensure that no Israeli crimes would go unpunished in light of the magnitude of the crisis in Gaza Strip, particularly since the Kuwaiti summit called on the need to follow up on the issue of war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza." The aim for the international community is to contribute to the reconstruction of Gaza, Yousef said.

Yousef added that the Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa held talks with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on sideliens of the Arab summit in Kuwait where they made consultation on rebuilding effort issue.

He explained that the first UN delegation has already arrived to assess humanitarian needs in Gaza, while the second will specialize in needs’ assessment with regard to the reconstruction of infrastructure in Gaza, including electricity, water and sanitation.
