Addressing a high-level segment of the 10th session of the Human Rights Council, Al Baharna said that the Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed the forthcoming Durban Review Conference slated to convene in Geneva next April, and expressed hope that the international community will be actively participating in the conference.
He stressed that the international community has a duty to assist the Palestinian people and to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza as a result of the latest Israeli aggression.
Al Baharna noted that under the patronage of Bahrain’s first lady Sheikha Sabika Bent Ibrahim Al Khalifa, and the President of the Higher Council for Women, an international conference will convene on human trafficking to find solutions to this global problem and to safeguard the rights of migrant workers.
The minister listed impressive accomplishments of human rights in his country and said that this development took place in the wake of the reform program undertaking by King of Bahrain Hamad ben Eissa Al Khalifa.
