The memorandum was singed by Qatar National Human Rights Committee chairman, Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri and the Mauritanian National Human Rights Committee chairman Bamariam Kuwita.
The two sides expressed the hope to join efforts in the promotion of human rights by launching effective programmes, holding training workshops and other activities related to the preparation of studies and research on topics related to human rights.
They also hoped to seek the strengthening of co-operation frameworks in areas of common interest, including the provision of technical support for the activities and programmes made by each party separately, as well as the exchange of information and studies related to the tasks and functions and work areas.
The signing of this agreement stemmed from the keenness of Qatar National Human Rights Committee on the performance of its tasks related to co-operation with international and regional organisations and bodies concerned with human rights in accordance with the mission it was entrusted with as per its founding law and the enhancement of international cooperation in the field of human rights which is urged by all relevant international charters foremost of which being the Charter of the United Nations.
