The dialogue is to take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on October 31st.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said Thursday that Lavrov’s participation aims to develop multi-faceted cooperative relations with the Gulf countries in various fields, which is fully consistent with Russia’s long-term interests.
The talks will focus on ways to achieve political and diplomatic settlement of the situation in the Middle East as well as North Africa, and to create conditions for the transition from prolonged crisis to stability, peace and development and to ensure security in the Gulf region, Lukashevich noted.
He expressed his conviction that the development of links with the GCC countries is an integral part of the Russian action on the Islamic track, saying that he would develop a dialogue with the countries of the GCC that contributes in supporting the Russian interests in the Muslim world and bring the necessary investments for the modernization process in his country.
