This was approved by the government represented by Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowment Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa and elected MPs on Monday during a meeting to discuss a draft law to amend the constitution of Bahrain.

Head of the Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee Ahmed Al Mulla said that the government and the Lower House agreed on various matters related to the bills, including what actions should be taken if one of the MPs resign.

The bill was referred by the Cabinet late last year as part of the recommendations of the National Dialogue that was held to deal with unrest in Bahrain.

According to the government these amendments reflects the great democratic process witnessed by Bahrain to activate the people’s power in the government and increase the authorities of the House of Representatives in addition to other consensus reached by the National Dialogue.

The amendment would empower the parliament to reject Cabinet reshuffle and the government’s new action plan.
