Saudi Shiites Commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Prophet Mohammad

Shiites in different areas of Qatif region celebrated the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) for three days starting from the evening of Monday, January 28, 2013. On these evenings, many programs and activities on diverse fields were organized by groups of citizens and civil committees showing the Prophet’s manners and humanitarian aspects.

In Tarout, several civil committees organized AlRahmmah AlMohammadiah Festival (the Mercy of Prophet Mohammad Festival) for the second year in a row. About a hundred of citizens; men and children, volunteered to prepare the location of the festival on which many religious, intellectual, scientific and entertaining programs were carried out.

On the other hand, the National Intercommunication Committee in Qatif chose the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) to promote unity and cohesion between Muslims of different sects. The Committee organized an integral program on that evening for Sunni citizens who have the desire of visiting Qatif region and exploring its landmarks, culture and heritage.

As many other areas in Qatif region, AlRasoul AlA’adham Mosque Committee in Safaw, also, celebrated this significant event through organizing various activities. It invited Sheikh Hasan AlSaffar who delivered a lecture entitled “How Can the Society Rise”. AlSaffar indicated how Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his call influenced and still influencing nations and populations, and explained how he turned the ignorant, conflicting tribes and nations into a unified, civilized nation. He said that the contemporary Muslims societies are living now in a state of disunity and recession, and called them to refer to the Prophet’s biography to be back on the right track.

AlRasoul AlA’adham Committee, also, invited a chanting group from Tarout to revive this occasion, and prepared the square near to the mosque for folkloric games and the Food Festival.

Multiple programs were organized on this anniversary for children in different places. Those programs focused on educating children about Prophet Mohammad’s life and morals as well as entertaining them by games, short movies, plays and drawing corners.
