The FNC said in a statement: "The planned trip to UAE three islands – Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs – is a provocative step, dangerous precedence, and it violates the UAE sovereignty and contradicts all efforts aimed at finding a peaceful settlement to end the Iranian occupation of the UAE islands." "The escalating measures, which Iran used to do, can never alter the historical and legal facts that prove the islands are part and parcel of the UAE territories," the Emirate News Agency (WAM) cited the statement as saying.
However, the FNC vowed to spare no effort to substantiate the UAE firm stance to end Iran’s occupation of the islands either through direct negotiations or the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The FNC called on Tehran to give up such unjustifiable provocative measures and to seek confidence-building measures instead.
Iran occupied the UAE’s three islands – Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs – in 1971.
