GCC sources said the global economic crisis has forced virtually all
six member states to delay or cancel defense procurement programs over the
next year. They said several states, particularly Saudi Arabia and the
United Arab Emirates, were already identifying weapons programs that could
be postponed.
"We have enough weapons for our defense," a GCC source said. "We will
delay upgrade programs."
