Iraqi Lawmaker Convicted Of Bombing American Embassy In Kuwait

Jamal Jafaar Mohammed is a member of Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al- Maliki’s governing coalition and as a lawmaker is immune from prosecution.

US officials have been pursuing the case with Iraqi authorities and want the parliament to strip Mohammed of his immunity. US intelligence also believe Mohammed is an Iranian agent in Iraq and supports Shiite insurgents, CNN said.

Mohammed was sentence to death in Kuwait in 1984 in connection to the embassy bombings that left five dead and 86 wounded. He fled the country before the trial.
