The Federal National Council (FNC) delegation headed by Speaker Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair persuaded the delegates to the table the issues of Abu Moussa, Greater and Lesser Tunbs, which are occupied by Iran.
Abdullah Al Shehi, a member of the delegation, said the issue of the isles had not moved an inch forward because Iran had been ignoring UAE calls to resolve the dispute either through international arbitration or through direct talks. “Iran has continued to ignore our overtures and instead engaged on activities aimed at creating a fait accompli,” he said.
Al Shehi added: “We call upon our sister Arab countries to keep the issue of the UAE isles alive in all regional and international fora, they should consider these isles as occupied Arab territories.”
