Last week, UNRWA had received $ 3 million from the government of the UAE for food aid to Gaza’s 1.1 million refugees. Over 80 per cent of the population of Gaza is dependent on UN food handouts.
Under an agreement signed between UNRWA and the recently established Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation, the latter will finance the purchase of a further $ 1 million of urgently required canned meat, flour, sunflower oil and milk powder.
