Arab League slams threats against Saudi, UAE ambassadors

He expressed solidarity with the two ambassadors "against such threats, measures or intentions," a statement by the Arab League (AL) said Tuesday.

 

He lauded the work being done by the Saudi ambassador, which Moussa described as "serving Lebanon’s interests and political stability." The AL secretary general said he was unable to comprehend such threats. "Why such threats. This is a matter of deep concern for us and we cannot accept it," he said.

 

He added that the AL was now engaging in contacts with the various forces in Lebanon and stressed that the Lebanese issue would be high on the agenda of an upcoming meeting of Arab foreign ministers due to convene on September 5, in the Egyptian capital.

 

Moreover, the ministers would be briefed on the results of the Arab delegation, which visited Lebanon on June 15 in an effort to bridge the gap among the conflicting political leaders.
