‘Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE have taken bold diplomatic steps’

This bold step illustrates a clear message to the world that "today’s Iraq is not like yesterday", he said, praising as well identical decisions by Kuwait and the UAE.

Al-Dabagh added in statements to the Bahraini "Al-Ayam" daily published on Thursday that the GCC countries are highly important to Iraq especially at the economic level.

He asserted that the Bahraini Monarch Sheikh Hamad Bin Essa Al-Khalifa has always expressed his full support for Iraq, adding that the Monarch’s assigning of Hassan Al-Maliki as the Bahraini Ambassador to Baghdad came under the framework of strong brotherly relations between the two countries.

As for the issue of choosing a location for the embassy, Al-Dabagh said that there are specialized buildings for embassies and houses for ambassadors in the "Green zone" in Baghdad.

On the issue of security, he stressed that it is "acceptable" as many embassies are located in the "green zone" and other secured locations.
The diplomatic missions are performing their work peacefully, he added.

Al-Dabagh also referred to the possibility that Iraq would witness an increase in Bahraini investments, under the recommendations of the Bahraini Monarch, stressing that their are many profitable investment opportunities in Iraq, calling upon the Bahraini private sector to take advantage of them.
