Child safety law in Bahrain

Head of Traffic Culture, Major Mosa Al Dossairi, said in a statement that the registered violations were the highest so far for the same period of previous years. He explained that Article-2 of the traffic law clearly stated that since March 1990, children less than 10 years or infants were banned from travelling in the front seat next to the driver.

To deal with the rising problem, the Consultative Council (Shura) is pushing for a law, which stipulates imprisonment for drivers allowing children on board to sit in the front seat or on their laps.

It also punishes those who put their children on board in baby seats without seatbelts.
