Clinton and Saud al-Faisal discuss Mideast peace, Yemen

State Department spokesperson Ian Kelly told reporters that this meeting "is part of our regular, ongoing consultation with Saudi Arabia".

"We expect that they will talk about ways to intensify our cooperation in Afghanistan and also Pakistan, talk about Yemen and ways to promote peace and stability in Yemen, and ways to promote and further a comprehensive peace settlement in the Middle East", he added.

Faisal will also meet with US Special Envoy Mitchell for the Middle East peace process.

Clinton will also hold talks later today with Algerian foreign minister Mourad Medelci to "consult on a wide range of issues, including bilateral and regional issues and expanding of the US- Algeria cooperation".

Medelci will also meet with Undersecretary of State Robert Hormats and Coordinator for Counterterrorism Ambassador Daniel Benjamin.
