The official spokesman of the group’s technical committee Taj Eldin Bashir said: “We agreed on Doha talks because all the reasons of success are available, such as the serious mediation and the international and regional support to Qatar efforts in this regard.’’
Bashir asserted that all the Darfuri movements trust the Qatari mediation as genuine and aimed at bringing about peace to Sudan.
The efforts by the Emir, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs to make peace in Darfur has really paid off, said Bashir, expressing optimism over a successful round of talks.
Regarding consultation currently in session in Doha between the mediation and Darfuri movements, Bashir said the technical committees met during the past two days with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah al Mahmoud and the UN/AU Joint Mediator Djibril Bassole to discuss several issues on Darfur peace, mainly how to unite the armed movements.
