The Lord Mayor of the City of London, John Stuttard will open proceedings with a speech highlighting the opportunities to develop long-term strategic relationships between the emerging economic powers in the Gulf and the world’s leading international financial centre, the City of London.

Other key note speakers include Lord Levene of Portsoken, Chairman of Lloyd’s of London, who will look at developments in GCC and London insurance markets, and Dr Gerard Lyons, Chief Economist at Standard Chartered, who will give a strategic economic overview for the Gulf States to 2010. In addition, leading players in the international financial markets will chair panel discussions on market regulation and corporate governance, capital and private equity markets, Islamic finance and also GCC investment flows and the role of the City of London.

The Middle East Association also announced that the lead sponsors for the conference will be Bahrain Financial Services Development, Qatar Financial Centre Authority and Standard Chartered Bank.
