During the meeting, the ministers exchanged views on coordination of their countries’ stances on the issues on the agenda of the current session of the General Assembly and meetings between the GCC countries and regional groupings.
The meeting was presided over by the Omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, in the presence of GCC Secretary-General Abdurrahman bin Hamad Al Attiyah.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud yesterday chaired the first meeting of the Arab-South America Foreign Ministers Council.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 64th UN General Assembly session here.
The minister said the meeting was a step towards enhancing cooperation between countries in the Arab and South America regions.
