The agreement, brokered by Qatar and Libya, is an "important step" to tackling all problems between Sudan and Chad, Al-Attiyah said in a statement.
He said the agreement would actively contribute to establishing stability and security in the region, as well as tackling the conflict in Darfur.
Al-Attiyah hoped the agreement would mark a genuine start for conciliation between Sudan and Chad to allow resolution of all sticky issues.
