Mohammed Yousef, Head of the UAE Press Association, said this while addressing a conference on Press freedom and the freedom of expression.
The two-day event, which concluded recently, was organised by the Zayed University (ZU), in association with the UAE Press Association.
The seminar was held on the ZU campus in the capital under the patronage of Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and the Scientific Research, President of Zayed University.Renowned media figures of the country took part in the event. Commenting on the conference, Suliman Al Jassem, Vice-Chancellor of ZU, hailed the university’s students for organising the conference. “The freedom of speech is very important. However, the media should abide by the customs and traditions of the country,” he stressed.
