Justice is the ultimate goal of governance, the source of safety and the essence of development, according to the vision of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The plan has been developed in line with the directions of Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council, and under the auspices of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the ADJD. The plan outlines the steps to achieve each goal. For example, the steps to improve access to justice include providing legal assistance to those in need, supporting alternative means to settle lawsuits, offering electronic services for greater convenience and extending working hours to meet the public need, the release said.

Counsel Yousef Saeed Al Ibri, Attorney-General in Abu Dhabi, stated, ‘The strategic plan has been developed after extensive studies and workshops, and after reviewing international best practices. This plan will further enhance Abu Dhabi’s judicial system to contribute to security, safety and justice.’

The department’s strategic plan is updated every five years in adherence with the socio-economic development of the emirate, the release said.

The plan was developed after a series of leadership workshops, court conferences, meetings of focus groups and study tours to find out the international best practices. The implementation of the plan is currently being facilitated through a Strategic Management Working Group. This intra-departmental working group consists of senior level planners and managers from the major units within the department, the release said.
