Some officials speculated that Education Minister Nouriya Al-Sabeeh might not be grilled, but if that happens, she will resign and will be replaced by current Health Minister, Ali Al-Barrak, who in turn will also be replaced by someone else.
MP Dr Waleed Al-Tabtabae talked about MPs lobbying to amend Article 2 of the constitution, so that all laws will be in accordance to the Islamic religion.
All manmade laws will be changed into Islamic ones to put an end to crimes like assaults, thefts, alcohol and drugs abuse as well as adultery, he said. He said, implementing laws according to the Islamic religion will be on top of the council’s priorities in addition to economic laws compatible with the Islamic religion to put an end to usury laws.
He suggested cutting the hands of thieves to put an end to crimes pertaining to thefts. He also confirmed that Education Minister Nouriya Al-Sabeeh will resign her post if she is grilled and that the issue will be clear within the next couple of days.
Commenting on the Islamic Constitutional Movement, he said it plans to hold a meeting to study the education situation in general and what steps have been taken by the minister towards solving issues in her ministry. It will also demand to know what has been executed from the educational plan so far, which the movement had presented earlier.
The Islamic Salafist Bloc also intends to hold a meeting to discuss outstanding issues and the status of the Ministry of Education and the reasons for delaying answers to questions put forth by some MPs. MPs from the Awazem tribe intend to hold their meeting in the coming days at MP Fahad Al-Maie’s diwaniya to discuss issues concerning the upcoming period and the relation between the two authorities.
