The speaker thus requested members of the public attending the NA discussions of state budgets and accounts to clear the hall and only those with special passes were allowed to be present.

The parliament’s standing orders indicate the speaker may turn a session to closed door mode upon request of the government or of 10 MPs at least, and that the request be discussed in a closed door sitting.

Minister of Electricity and Water and Acting Oil Minister Mohammad Al-Olaim had in yesterday’s NA session announced that the government would request closed door discussions after the state budget review to consider the state’s oil reserves, current and potential.

Several MPs had requested the government provide them with full information and data on the state’s actual and estimated oil reserves.
