In statements to KUNA, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Roudhan al-Roudhan said that the central bank of Kuwait will coordinate with other government agencies to look into the case of those laid off workers who have had legal actions taken against them in connection with their having lost their jobs and their inability to meet bank obligations such as keeping up with monthly installments on household purchases.

He said the public authority for social security has been asked to study the legal and technical ramifications that would allow the period of no-work by the laid off employees to be taken as a work period worth considering on their work record.

The cabinet’s decision regarding the laid off employees would grant them a monetary stipend that is 60 percent of their former salaries, in addition to a gift of KD 220 every month for a year, said the minister.
