Maj. Gen. Ashraf Refi, general-director of Lebanon’s domestic security forces, made the remarks in an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) at Rafik Hariri International Airport ahead of leaving for Kuwait on a four-day official visit upon invitation from the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry.

He termed his visit to Kuwait as necessary at a time when the Arab community came under a "fierce terrorist onslaught".

"We will capitalize on this opportunity to have full coordination with security officials in Kuwait over several issues, especially as Kuwait hosts a large Lebanese community and many Kuwaiti people frequently visit Lebanon," he added.

"Both Lebanon and Kuwait share the same circumstances so their bilateral cooperation should be further reinforced," he requested.

However, he appreciated Kuwait’s relentless support for Lebanon in various fields, noting that the Lebanese community in Kuwait was held in high esteem.

In his stay in Kuwait, the Lebanese general is expected to meet with senior Kuwaiti officials, and to visit security sectors in order to see how Kuwait has made headway in the technological domain.
