Hamed bin Mohammed Al Rashdi, Minister of Information, said journalists must receive “accurate data so that we avoid undesired interpretation and rule out rumours that find place in the absence of such data from its true sources.”
He was inaugurating a seminar here on Sunday.
The symposium was meant to create more interaction between the media and the country’s financial and economic institutions.
“We appreciate the role of financial institutions in providing media men with the required information and knowledge in today’s world marked by rapid developments and events,” he said, also noting that the global financial crisis had highlighted the importance of the Press.
