Media should be accurate and objective, says Khoja

This came in a press statement issued by Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, after he inaugurated the 1st international media conference entitled “The future of press publishing” on behalf of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, here on Monday.

Dr. Khoja warned the media members against running behind the hype that does not reflect the credibility of press works and professional integrity. He stressed that the conference extends bridges of cooperation between media organizations in the Middle East, and contributes to building a culture of communication between media members in order to benefit from global expertise and experience in the field of press publishing and marketing and to have access to modern technologies.

During the conference, the minister pointed out that lectures will be delivered and workshops will be organized to discuss topics relating to press publishing and electronic printing. “Moreover, working papers will also be submitted by an elite group of international experts in the press and media industry from various countries in addition to experts and consultants from Ifra organization.”

He added that the conference would have public discussions involving a number of personnel of press and media institutions in the Kingdom. As regards the future of the electronic press, Dr. Khoja said it is the press of the future and will be developed from its current status, noting that it requires organization so that it can claim its rights and fulfill its obligations to society.
