In the past few months, Qatar has hosted several meetings that brought together delegations from Sudan’s national unity government and the Justice and Equality Movement.
The first round of Doha talks on Darfur ended with the signing of a goodwill and confidence-building document. It was followed by another round of talks, also hosted by Qatar, which is the sponsor of the talks. Doha also sponsored a reconciliation meeting between the Sudanese and Chadian governments in a bid to ease tension between them.
