The committee members include Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister for Economy, Dr Ali bin Abdulla Al Ka’abi, Minister for Labour, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the National Security Council.
The committee will be responsible for drafting new policies and regulations to achieve the government’s strategic goals.
Commenting, Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, said: “The formation of the committee is in line with the UAE Government Strategy, which seeks to ensure high efficiency levels in planning sustainable development in the country and ensure a high standard of living for the UAE Nationals and residents.
The need for a comprehensive population policy was highlighted in the UAE Government Strategy unveiled by Shaikh Mohammed in April this year. According to the strategy, the policy must focus on striking a balance between the requirements for sustainable development and the population policies.
Gergawi also revealed that the committee will submit regular reports including recommendations and proposed action plans to the Prime Minister’s Office as part of the implementation of the UAE Government Strategy.
