No minimum wage in protocol: Qatari Ministry

"The Ministry of Labour wants to clarify that the Protocol has no paragraph stipulating neither increase nor fixing the minimum wages. The attached labour contract sample, too, did not mention anything regarding the fixing of minimum wage for Filipino labourers", said Mohamed Abdullah Al Attiya, Director of Public Relations of the Labour Ministry.

Mohamed Abdullah Al Attiya was reacting to a news story published by The Peninsula on Wednesday citing Philippine Labour Attache Vivo Vidal ‘s statement that they are already awaiting the guidelines on the bilateral agreement between the two countries that will formally increase the minimum wage of OFWs in Qatar to QR1,400.

The Peninsula has tried to get a reaction from Vidal on his mobile phone but to no avail.
