Qatar Cabinet Expresses Concern About Violence In Palestine

At the outset of the meeting the cabinet expressed deep concern over the regrettable armed confrontations between the Palestinian brethren.

The cabinet appealed all to resort to self restraint and opt for dialogue to prevent sedition and spare the Palestinian blood, underlining Qatar’s keenness on the need to settle differences through the constructive democratic dialogue.

The council then discussed topics on its agenda and took decisions:

First – approved a draft law amending some provisions of law no 5 of 1982 organising the registration of births and deaths and decided to refer it to the advisory council.

Second – approved a cabinet draft decision issuing the organisational structure of Qatar general authority for minors affairs.

Third – reviewed the following issues and took the appropriate decisions:

A- a letter by the Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Economy and Trade on a decision issued by the chairman of Qatar General Organisation for Standards and Metrology organising the sale and distribution of standards, publications and other related bulletins.

B- A letter by Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Economy and Trade and Chairman of Qatar General Organisation for Standards and Metrology on proposals related to the implementation and follow-up of the unified trade policy of GCC states.

C- a letter by the Governor of Qatar Central Bank on the bank’s audited budget for fiscal year 2006.

D- a letter by the Customs and Ports General Authority on the establishment of a gulf company for navigation aids.

Fourth – approved the first draft executive programme for the cooperation agreement between the National Council for Culture, Arts and Heritage and the Cuban ministry of culture for the years (2007-2009).
