Qatar varsity plans facility to promote scientific research

Dr Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad, President of the University, was also present. Al Misnad said all the newly-recruited staff were highly qualified. More teachers will join in the coming days, she added.
Sheikha bint Jabor said the University had plans to set up a full-fledged research complex with advanced laboratories and other facilities.
Scientific research is an important component of the institution, she added.
A fund of $ 100,000 has already been set up to support research projects by students.
To provide more focus to this area, a new position has been created which is named Deputy President for Scientific Research Affairs, said Sheikha bint Jabor.
The university has been organising a series of workshops, seminars and symposia to upgrade the skills of the academic staff in various fields.
She said the institution has given special emphasis on improving the standards and performance of its Qatari students, to prepare them for the highly competitive job market.
