Dr Yaqoob Zaki is the Deputy Director of the Muslim Institute founded by the
late Dr Kalim Siddiqi. Born in Scotland, he was educated in Barcelona and
Granada, Spain. He obtained his first degree in Symmetic Philology at the
University of Barcelona and his PhD in Arabic Literature at the University
of Granada. Dr Zaki is author of four books: Diwan Ibn Suhail Al Andalusi
(Spanish and Arabic editions), Architecture of the Islamic World and The
Islamic Garden, published by Harvard University Press. He taught Islamic
Theology at the University of Lancaster and Mosque Design as a visiting
professor at Harvard.
