This came in a phone call he received last night from the US President George W. Bush.
According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the two men discussed regional and international developments in addition to bilateral relations.
The Saudi king affirmed the need to restore the Palestinians’ unity, the agency reported.
He expressed the need to provide continued support to the Palestinian people so that they can stand steadfastly and valiantly in face of the Israeli occupiers, it added.
He reiterated absolute commitment to the Arab peace initiative as a true reflection for Arab desire in peace, the agency said.
The phone call came after President Bush’s announcement to hold an international Middle East peace conference which is a dramatic way to try to jump-start the peace process as well as a rare session among Israel and some Arab states that do not have formal diplomatic relations with Israel.
