Unicef lauds UAE’s efforts to rehabilitate child jockeys

They discussed the actions taken after the signing of the second agreement between the UAE and Unicef on the rehabilitation of children formerly employed in camel racing.

Dr Ayman Abu Laban expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Interior for its continued support of the project and extensive efforts by the ministry to end the use of child jockeys in camel racing.

He also praised the measures taken by the UAE in dealing with the issue in a humanitarian spirit which was appreciated by all the world. He expressed the hope that others will emulate the example of the UAE in the rehabilitation of child jockeys.

The meeting was attended by Colonel Nasser Al Awadi Al Menhali, head of Residency and Naturalisation Department in Abu Dhabi.
