Al Wefaq Islamic Society vice-chairman, Khalil Marzooq, discussed the financial capability of the government to bring about such a rise in salaries and its repercussion on the economy. He said that BD300 is the minimum salary a person needs for a decent life.
However, we are also looking into the implications this will have on the economy. When we say BD300, we mean a lifestyle compatible with the BD300 could be through government aid and exemptions. What the government could do is support the citizens below the poverty line with aids and grants such as the BD100 rent allowance promised for those who have been waiting for a house for over five years.
